RE: Monaco Forum

Go to Yahoo and set up a email account, then set up your groups folder. Your Groups will consist of forums you want to visit anytime you open Yahoo. You don't have to set Yahoo as your main page, just use Yahoo as another search engine that offers differnt features. I generally open 3 brousers at a time, my e-mail account through my local provider, a Google page and Yahoo page. This is what they mulit-tasking. It gives me everything I need, now if the speed would pick up I'd be a much happier camper. amore

RE: Surround System Help

There is a much simpler solution to this. Go to ZVOXAUDIO.com and look at their cube speakers systems. They have a MINI unit that will knock your socks off. It only requires two wires from the TV's Audio Output and one power supply plug in, and it sounds every bit like an expensive 5 channel surround sound system, but at only $200. I added one of these to our bedroom in the coach and it's FANTASTIC!!! amore

RE: Monaco Early Radiator Failure Casues?

Contact Monaco at 877-466-6226 and ask for Mike Babbit. Explain your situation to him so he can pull your file. Have you been using extended life coolant? I believe that's the type used by Monaco. Also, as one person mentioned, 'you could have received a radiator from the same batch', if this one is failing also. amore

RE: I've got the (RESOLUTION) Chassis Batteries blues...

Robert, It sounds like you may have the Aqua Hot 110 volt circuit "ON" which is a 1500 watt kilrod inside the unit. That for sure will draw down your batteries. I suggest you contact Don Quintana at Aqua-Hot and explain your situation to him. Don is Aqua-Hot's Service Manager, he knows their products inside and out. 866-380-8562 or dquintana@aqua-hot.com amore

RE: How Much Should Routine Service Cost?

This is what happens when folks with too much money let others do their dirty work. Not all of us have money dropping out of our pockets, nor do we have stupid printed on our foreheads. As long as these businesses are allowed to folks us this way they'll go right on doing so. Hopefully they did a job equal to the pay, I find it hard to believe; if I want the work done right, I have to do it myself; even something as simple as oil & filter changing & lube. You've learned an lesson, now pass the experience on to your fellow RVers so they don't get caught in the trap. Locating an RV Friendly Truck Service Center will be your best bet, but always detail exactly what you want and ask for a total cost before signing the work order. amore

RE: Monaco - Online Help changed overnight!

You can call Monaco support anytime at 888-466-6226, but before you waste their time "READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL". Monaco Customer Support is loaded down and they won't forget you. You have to remember, your not the only Monaco Corp. Coach Onwer out there, and they don't forget you as a customer. If you can't find the answer in your owners manuals, which is your salvation book or books, go to the web site of the manufacture for the item you need help with. Also, by following this chain of command first, you'll be alerting the manufacture of your ownership, there by establishing your registration of the product. If there are any recalls or service bulletins you'll be first one their list to call. So to all you guys who like asking questions and not read, do yourself a big favor. Find your Owners Manual Bags with all your coach's paperwork, get a nice cool drink, sit down at the kitchen table and start going through your product literature. Either fill-out the registration cards or email each manufacture/supplier of products in your coach and file your registration on line. At the same time, READ each MANUAL, you'll be surprised how much you will gain from this. Your coach came with a Manufacture/Supplier List Sheet, hopefully someone didn't throw it away. It has all the manufacture/suppliers listed with the product, model, serial number and a phone number. You need to make a number of copies of this and keep a copy handy at different locations. Most importantly, remember, these customer support people are people just like you and me. Treat them respectfully and they'll bend over backwards to help. Get to know one or two techs and get their personal email addresses, then when you have a problem that you can't find an answer to, sent them an email. In the three years we've had our Dynasty, Monaco Tech Support has been fantastic. We've met and personally talked with all the management people, who we are honored to call our friends, because that's what they have become. Owning a Monaco Product enlists you in the Monaco Family.

RE: Replaced the Shower valve.

Been there and done that Dave. It seems that the manufacture's put them in permanently. One thing a lot of folks don't know, MOEN has a LIFE TIME WARRANTY. No need to buy a new one, just call Moen Customer Service and they'll do what ever it takes to get back up and running. Moen was FANTASTIC, they next dayed parts. Our problem was a BULL in China Shop(me), there is literly no room to work or to get my fat hands into the fixture. Believe it or not, I had a factory tech at a Monaco Rally, who is bigger then I am, remove the old unit- replace the defective part and reinstall it. I don't know how he did it, but he did. Moen's life time warranty and Monaco's Excellent Customer Support made all the difference. Thanks Moen & Monaco Customer Support(Bubba Tillery & April Kilein) amore

RE: Anyone had problems with State Farm Insurance Claims

You get what you pay for in this industry, if you don't insure your motorhome with a company that specializes in MotorHome Insurance Policies then this is what can happen. MotorHomes are not automobiles or pick-up trucks. To be insured properly and wisely insured you need the special coverages indorsed in a MotorHome only Policy. Example: Full replacement with in the first 5 years, "repacement cost for the life of the vehicle while you own it". If you paid $165,000 for it and it burned down 8 years after you bought it new, the Motor Home Insurance policy would be worth $165,000 toward another coach. You have to read these policies carefully because an Auto Insurance Policy is not the same as a Motorhome Policy....

RE: Fantastic Vent - anyone replace dome power motor?

A quick 2nd and 3rd to the gasket sticking. A short term fix would be to go up on the roof, with the vents open and clean the interior surface of the dome where the gasket seals with clean cloth and then wipe dry silicone on both the gasket and the inside of the dome. After a couple years of use and sitting in the sun the gasket material starts to emit plastisizers that attack the plactic dome material, which causes this sticking problem. What ever you do, don't use any petroleum based product on the gasket; it will cause it to get worse. 303 was recommended for a long time, but Fantasic Vent Customer Service stopped using that. Your best way to resolvle this issue is to call Fantastic Vent 800-521-0298 and talk with Bob Beretta.

RE: Electric Step Problem

You can call Holiday Rambler Tech Support and they will help you. 800-634-0855 Just a thought, the step is not that complicated, it sounds like a gear broke, or maybe something as simple as a pivot arm popped off. In either case or what ever else may have happened it's not that much to fix. If you have all your original owners manuals that came with the coach, you should have the information on the step assembly. It will have a parts diagram and part numbers, as well as the manufacture(probably a KwiKee) and a contact number there also. amore

RE: Update on RV damage

Dave, I would take the insurence settlement and go find a nice replacement. If the book value is $32,000 and you get $32,000 why go through all the hassel of trying to fix it and still have a salavaged coach. There are some really good deals out there just waiting for a buyer. Your in a great position, take advantage of it and move up to maybe a better unit. amore

RE: Convection Microwave Replacement

Hey Wife of Vacation Bound, you can get yours fixed! They are not throw away units. Find your owners manual, in it will be model No., probably a owners card that was never returned, and your factory customer service center contact information. Give them a call and set up a service call. They should ask you what happened and what your unit is doing; that way they'll bring the right parts when they come to you coach. Now, if your not satisfied with you present Microwave, let me lead you to a better product. We have the GE Advantium Speed cook which is light years ahead of the standard microwave. It will do all functions of a microwave but even better with the addition of Speed Cooking by light. Once you have a Advantium and use it you won't use a microwave again. And it's not that much more expensive then the microwave. Wife, the sizes are all the same. One smart idea all the manufactures had was to match sizes so they are pretty much universal. If there is any difference it would be the built-in hood vent and if I were anyone putting in a new microwave or Advantium in the coach or rv I would VENT IT OUT, which is easy to do. For more information about any brand of microwave just go to their website. The GE Advantium at GE.com I hope that helped. Where was your SURGE GUARD during all these surges? The cost of a TRCI Surge Guard would have saved you a lot of problems. If your microwave is out, that's not all that got zapped. Your in for some heavy expenses. You might check you insurance policy also. Good luck! amore

RE: Country Coach: A shadow of it's former self

Dp4me, you missed one, the oil companies, they're going like gang busters and making more profit them they know what to do with. We can thank the greedy %$#$#'s on Wall street for funneling high compinsation packages out of their companies and running the businesses in the hole. Yea, the politicians are responsible also to blame, they voted to loosen up credit so people who could afford a new home could(to get more votes) and the list goes on and on. We as a society have gotten to damn simpathetic and made to feel bad when some folks can't have the same things others have. People do it everyday, they want their kids to have more then they had, but the kids never realize what it took to get to that stag in life to have those things. This mentality has blossumed over into everyday life for everyone. This land of opportunity has turned into a land free-bes for all. Then we have the power brokers on Wall street who don't know what an honest days work is all about, all they want is millions of our hard earned dollars so they can live their lavish life styles. Hell, we don't have to worry about terrorists coming into this country, their already here. Their inbeded in big buisiness, our financial markets and our government.

RE: Monaco Saga

LLT, I don't know why you brought this issue before us at this time. It's like putting the cart before the horse and then complaining about it. Like you said, Monaco has be there for you, why didn't you just give them the opportunity to be there again and not bash them before they had the opportunity to help. I think your trying to use this forum for the wronge reasons. And Cummins could have expressed their position differently, their not going to loose anything from this cross over, the engine will probably out live you. In today's Truck Stop environment, truckers demand clean fuel and so does the Trucking Industry. The chances of your coach getting dirty fuel everytime the tank was filled up is nill and for Cummins to act so drastically is rediculous. amore

RE: To Replace or Not to Replace (Mudflap)

Mary I sent you a private message.. I have both the brush and the mudflap/stone guard. I tow a Explorer Limited with an expensive paint job; there are very very few paint chips of any and the ones I do have weren't caused by being behind our coach. The only thing about the brush, is it sweeps the road at slow speeds and creates some dust. I mounted the brush infront of the factory stone guard. It works just fine as far as I'm concerned. Would I run without one? ---NO WAY!!!! amore

RE: Ellkart, Indiana

When you get to Elkhart from the US 20 ByPass take SR 19 North, it becomes Nappanee ST and you go thru a cure to the right it becomes W Bristol St. Just after the curve on the rignt are two Rv Surplus stores, then after the light on the left is RV Surplus. Be sure you know what your after and what they actually retail for, because all of these places can charge more then average retail for items. And remember "surplus salvage is just that -- there generally is no warranty on salvage or surplus goods". If they do have warranty--get it in writting on your invoice... These are good place to get items that are hard to find or no longer available, but you have to know what your looking for and what it should cost. Down the road(south of the ByPass)on SR19 to Wakarusa(about 9 miles), there is DeMartini RV. JD the Service and Parts manager is known for giving great prices on new parts and new accessories and they come with warranties. Elkhart is the hub of the RV Industry distribution network, everything is available here, so DeMartini can usually get it. They are also one of the only Monaco Coach Corp. dealership in the area that have Monaco Factory Trained Techs on staff to handle all your service work. We've used them a number of times and they have been just great. amore

RE: Carefree Awning on the Dynasty

No awning manufacture will stand behind their awning if you leave them out in a storm or windy condition. Sometimes electric units will stall and not come in, so it's best to always store your awning before you leave your coach no matter how long your gone. You have the convenience of electric to make that chore easy, that's all it is. Otherwise get the manual and go crank it everytime you leave your coach. amore

RE: Monaco OK in my book

Dittos and double dittos to all of the above. This is what you get when you become an Owner of a Monaco Coach Corp product. There was a topic at this site during the past week, where a person was freaking out because they were looking to buy a New Holiday Rambler Neptune, but when they read a sad but not so factional story on another site they turned away for Monaco. The story was sad, but full of pit falls that Monaco had little to no control over, but quess what? Monaco was there with the coach owners all the way and got the problems fixed and then went beyond with other fixes that weren't their responsibility. We have been proud owners of a 07 Monaco coach and we couldn't be happier. The folks at Monaco have become family and good friends. When ever we end a phone conversation with them or just talking with them in general, they always say "if you need help or anything just let us know". They have been there everytime we needed them, sometimes going beyond with doing more then expected. As far as financially, Monaco is doing fine. Sales have been slow, but it's give them time to regroup and make adjustments that will allow them to come back even stronger then before. And as far as Customer Service is concerned through-out this period, IT SECOND TO NON, it's the BEST. amore
